Does CA form India qualify for 25 points???

Post by ravish » Fri Jul 29, 2005 12:13 pm

Hi,
Members out there, can u pl guide me whether Chartered Acountant (CA) degre from India qualifies for 25 points as Professional Level qualification for the HSMP assessment??? I am also pursuing the CFA program (Chartered Financial Analyst) offered by the CFA Institute (formerly known as AIMR- Association for Investment Management & Research), USA. I am doing the course from India.
Can anyone throw some light on this........

CFA wont get u any points although being a CFA level 2 candidate myself i know that even level 1 curriculum is equivalent to a Masters level program. As far as the CA from India is concerned the benchmark is the ACCA or ICAEW related program. If any of the two bodies or equivalent bodies are ready to give u memebership simply on the basis of ur CA from india then u can claim 25 points. Even if they dont u still might be eligible for 25 points as i know many people from Pakistan who were members of the local accounting body and got a certificate from the local degree awarding body to specify that the local qualification is equivalent to a masters level and they got 25 points.

Hope this info helps

Thanks and Regards

Hi ispno1,
Thanx for your info..........
Meanwhile could you pl share with me as to where are u located.....
incase u are already in UK i would seek your opinion regarding job prospects for a CFA Charterholder in UK......... i.e in my case if i happen to receive the HSMP would there be sufficient job openings with a back ground of CFA , CA (from India)?? I have more than 5 yrs exp in financial markets..........
Would be really oblidged if u could share ur views on the same.

Thanx

very poor market for expats

only british qualification and exp can feth some opnings at lower level s otherwise huge probles unless u r lucky in 100000

ur hsmp visa is another hurdle

emplyers r not considering it as a long term point of view
