Looking for advice on transferring to a Canadian office :)

Post by angel010980 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 9:04 pm

Hi I am brand new to these boards and was hoping someone could help me. My husband I and I are seriously thinking about moving to Canada. I am a British Citizen and have a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering so we were thinking of emigrating through the Skilled Worker VISA route. However, the points calculator has indicated that I will need an offer of employment in Canada before we can go. A friend of mine suggested just transferring to one of our offices in Canada which should be ok but what about the difference in time between my employer expecting me to start work and the visa application process. Has anyone experienced this? If my VISA isn't ready in time for my transfer, is there any way I can get some kind of a work permit and start the application for a skilled workers VISA when we get there?

Many thanks :D

You need an "offer of employment"? You should be able to get that from the Canadian office, in writing. Then apply for the visa. Then do the transfer.

Thanks for your reply :D I spoke to someone in my company about the transfer and they said I can go on a type of work permit specially for transferring between offices (I can't remember what it is called now) and can start the permanent residency process from Canada.
