Canadian citizen moving back from Denmark w/Danish spouse

Post by Gosumi » Fri Apr 24, 2009 1:28 pm

Hi all, I am trying to find information to help us figure out what to do.
We are a young couple who has been married for 2 years, and together for about 6 or 7.
I moved from Canada (where I was born) to Denmark about 4 years ago and have been living here with my husband with a temporary Danish residence permit (which I renew as needed).

However, we wish to move back to Canada as soon as possible. I may move back first to help us save money on what is a huge move for us. He will remain in Denmark at his job until we are able to get him over legally. Which I hope is not long, as I want to live with my husband. :(

Anyways I would like advice on what we should do. I want to sponsor my husband to be able to come live with me in Canada, we want to do everything right.

However, what I have read suggests I need to have an annual income of around $27500, and currently I do not have a job in Canada as I am living in Denmark. I plan to get a job as soon as I can but we want to know if there is a way for us to both start our life back in Canada before I have a job that pays that much. We already have somewhere to live.
If it is relevant, we have enough money in our bank account to allow proof of funds for me to live in Denmark, would this work the other way as well?

Is there a way for him to come with me legally? Something that will give us a grace period for me, or both of us to get jobs and get set up so we can apply for permanent residence for him?

Advice, links and information greatly appreciated. Thank you.
