Need help - don't know what to do

Post by qetuo1 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:07 am

A bit of info on myself: I am 19, was born in the UK, have never committed a criminal offense and have never left the country. My parents came here illegally and only last year, my father was granted ILR based on his 14+ years residency.

To keep my first post short, after a long process of applying for legal citizenship in this country, it was recommended (after two applications as a family had been rejected for myself and my mother) that we should apply seperately for ILR. This advice came from Phil Woolas, who contacted us after we communicated with our local MP. He also gave us a special address to forward our set(o) forms (I don't have the address on me now but I recall that it was to be sent to a specific person who was part of "Team 9" and "Managed Migration" or "Liverpool Charged Casework" - it may be all three) to help speed up the process of me getting my ILR.

The forms were sent off on the 1st of April, and after a month we've had no confirmation letter that they've recieved the form, nor have they charged us. I do realise that it has only been a month but I DESPERATELY need to get this sorted out before September so that I can attend university. I've already been forced to take a "gap year" and basically do F- all. I understand that even through this process, it can take some time but I only have 5 months to get this sorted, and one month has already passed. I am very worried that another year of my life will be stolen. It seems that the only thing I've done "wrong" is being born in this country.

PLEASE, if anyone could give me some advice on my situation that would be very much appreciated. Has anyone on the forum been in a similar situation to mine? Did it take longer than 5 months to get their ILR?

As noted elsewhere, you are eligible to apply for registration as a British citizen under section 1(4) of the British Nationality Act.

Immigration status is irrelevant. You don't need ILR.

As for the application for ILR, did you send it by a recorded/secure method?
