O-1 U.S Visa Help!

I am from Ireland and currently in the U.S - my O-1 Visa was approved - I have to travel outside of the U.S in a few months and was informed that I will have to fly to Ireland first - so I can go to the U.S Embassy in Dublin and they can put my new visa into my passport so I will be able to travel back to the U.S - is this information accurate? If so, What do I need to do? What will I need to bring with me? and how long will this process take?
