Post by dtjesus » Thu Apr 30, 2009 1:48 pm

Switching Student to Tier 1 in UK
Applied : 17-Nov-08
Acknowledgement / payment taken : 25-Nov-08

Wrote a letter to HO and received a reply that says 'Your case has been selected for extended checks...'

Has anybody else had this?

I think, you need not worry if all your document(history) is genuine. Due to lot of students transferring to Tier 1 from their student visa (and also due to the recent incidents) HO seems to be taking extra precautions. Which is fine. Rest assured if once you are through this extended check and receive your visa, it will be easy for all future application.

Application of various people in this forum are turned down because HO couldn't validate their college/Uni etc.

On extended checks too...still waiting. I agree with chetanoja, I guess HO is having a lot of issues with student visa applications so they are taking extra measures on applications that involve students. Unfortunately, there's no telling what exactly extended checks means but if all documents are genuine and your school is on HO register of sponsors then all should go well. Pity this has led to an endless wait for us all. Anyhow, at least you have a response from HO, other than the one-liners they give when one calls the contact centre. Hopefully you'll receive response soon. Best to just keep praying.....hoping for the best.
Good things come to those who wait.................
