Tourist Visa Advice

Hi

I am trying to help my friend get a tourist visa from the British Embassy in Moscow to visit the UK. I have sent her an invite and financial details to help. She says she has visited a travel agent and they have asked for a faxed or scanned copy of my passport also and will accompany her to the interview at the embassy. This sounds a bit suspicious to me and nothing about this appears on the Moscow Embassy website. Can anyone confirm if this is genuine or not ?

This is perfectly okay as the British Embassy in Moscow needs to see your immigration status in the UK.
