What are some reasons a visa to the UK might be denied?

Post by whimsey » Thu May 14, 2009 4:00 am

OK i am new to this forum and posted this question (so i thought) but i am not seeing it anywhere, so i am trying again.

What are some reasons a visa to the UK may be denied?

I was once denied entry to the UK when trying to visit my boyfriend. I had enough money, a return ticket etc and they still denied me. I wish i had known about forums like this before i went to see him because maybe it would have changed things as i would have been more knowledgeable etc.

I have since then met my boyfriend in other countries and we now want to apply for a visit visa for me to see him in the UK for maybe like 2 months. If we decide to get married, i will be applying for a fiance visa (if we decide to get married in the UK which we probably wont), or a spouse visa. We might not want to live in the UK permanently, but i understand we would have to apply for the spouse visa even if we do end up living in the US.

I guess i am asking this question to hear stories and or experiences from others that have been in this situation so that i can maybe learn from them and avoid making mistakes. So if you share with me what you know, starting with the reasons a visit visa may be denied, i would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance to everyone.
