hi,
we r coming to UK for a period of 6 months starting from June,09. My husband has a work permit and we were planning to visit Switzerland and some other european countries (if possible). My doubts:

1. Do we need to apply for Schengen visa for Switzerland or work permit holders can still visit it without applying for it?

2. How much time does it take to get Schengen visa if we apply from UK itself?

3. What preparations we need to do before applying for Schengen visa?

2. Depends which consulate you're applying with.

3. Visit the appropriate consulate website. Different countries have different rules.

Maybe. It depends on which citizenships you have. You have not said.

If you are both Indian, then you would each need Schengen visas for your visit.
