Urgent Advice needed : Help on FLR(IED)

Post by twicky » Wed Aug 17, 2005 6:36 pm

Hello,

I am on a WP and have got a new job. The new employers have processed my WP. (Just got approved). My wife is on dependent visa and she has just got a WP thro' her employer.

Both of us have not applied for new FLR(IED) as the current LTR is still valid and both of our WPs have just been recently approved. My wife's employer says get the FLR stamped in India for her, but my employer says get the FLR stamped in UK. To add I have to go to India in a week??

1. Can we legally go and come back using the current LTR?
2. Can we both get our FLR stamped in India or UK or it does not matter?

Kindly can you advise how to go about this? (We would defly like our FLRs to remain separate and don't want to get into dependent visas)..

Thanks in advance

The first question from the immigration official at the airpot is :"are you still doing the same job"; What are you going to answer?
Yes? that's a lie and you could damage your whole immigration status
NO? And where is your EC or FLR linked to that new employment?

I think you are right by asking about the best action. If I were in your shoes I would get the FLR from croydon (think of it as an investment); worst case, get a new EC from your home country....

I may be wrong...but is worth getting a lot of info about your current situation before traveling out of the country.

Thanks for the reply, but my current LTR is valid till 2006. I asked my new employer's solicitor this morning, as I did not get any replies for some time and he has emailed me for my situation like this:

you should be able to return with your existing ltr as long as you do not start work until you return. It doesn't expire until 2006 as far as I can see.

You can then start work upon your return and submit the new ltr application.

Based on his advice I have planned my trip for this monday. Now I am confused.
