Number of Entries after Residence Card

Post by dham » Mon May 25, 2009 7:25 am

Hello,
I am applying for a 2 Year student Visa in Greece, I am from Mexico, the embassy has told me (although not very clearly) that they will give me the schengen visa first to enter Greece and finish the process there with some other papers they'll give me, once I do that they'll give me some sort of residence card, but on the applcation form for the Schengen Visa they told me to mark the option that says "One Entry" not "Multiple", now that I have read some posts on this and other sites I am starting to doubt about this options. Does this mean during my studies there I cannot leave the schengen area without having to apply again for the schengen visa? or once I have the residence card from Greece I will no longer need it?

Thank you in advance

From what I understand in your statement...it seems you wanna study and that means you will be issued a single entry visa not multiple and you can apply for residence in Greece after your arrival, after getting the residence...you wont need any visa for entry into the Schengen region including Greece for as-long as your permit is valid.

Thank you very much! I was afraid if I wanted to come visit my family in Mexico during those 2 years I'd have to apply all over again for the Schengen Visa. It's a relief I won't have to 'cuse it's a long procedure and I have to go all the way to capital city to do that.

Thanks a lot!

Same thing happened to my Russian partner - got job offer in Germany, went to German Emb, was given single-entry short-term Schengen and told to go to auslanderbehoreder on arrival to exchange it.

She got (eventually!) - German Work Permit which is also a fully-fledged Schengen travel visa.
