Incorrect name Schengen visa appointment with French Embassy

Hi,
I booked my appointment by phone with French Embassy for short stay visa. While my first & middle name is correctly spelled but my surname is printed incorrectly. Does it matter that my name spelled incorrectly on appointment? Should I call them to change my name on appointment (trying to avoid spending another 1£/min for 15 mins call !)

Will they allow me to go in on the appointment date?

I wrote a email to embassy and they replied that phone appointments are managed by third party and they can't change it. But they would allow me as long as I can show correct documents ( like my name on passport etc ).
I will take the print of email and hope all goes

What documents did you give to get the visa. I am planning to get schengen visa too from french consulate. Also one specific questions

- Did you made your hotel send you confirmation? i seem you need confirmaton from hotel directly. i booked hotel through expedia
