Obtaining a Portuguese passport seems the obvious answer, she's not currently British.

Simply because her mother is Portuguese and living in UK, doesn't make your daughter British! The mother would have to have permanent residence (after five years of living in the UK) before the child could be registered as British. As UKBabble says, get her a Portuguese passport! It is an EU passport after all, and she should be able to travel to Sweden visa free; which would also be the case with a British passport. So you can still go to Sweden easily when you get her a Portuguese passport, which I'm assuming you apply for from the Portuguese consulate.

But do get your child registered as British once eligible ... it is never so good to be a foreigner as opposed to being a citizen of own country.
