After naturalisation

Post by try-one » Tue Aug 30, 2005 4:33 pm

Hi,
It's a long time away but I wanted to ask if anyone knows what happends after naturalisation regarding trips abroad and absences from the UK?
is there any restriction like the one before the ILR and naturalisation?

Can I live / work outside the UK after I get the passport? I'm working for an american company and I may need to work from there.....
thanks

Once you are British you are British for life irrespective of where you live in the world, subject only to two provisos :-
  • you renounce your British Citizenship
  • the British Government takes specific action to cancel your British Citizenship (extremely rare and they would need a specific reason for doing so)
And of course once you have a British passport you are also an EU Citizen and thus have a right to live and work in any other EEA country.
