fiancee visa

I am trying to get my Fiancee who's Kazakh, a permanent visa. I note on the website it recommends it would be better to get married before applying. My questions are -

1. As my ex is dragging her feet on a divorce, its been 3 years now!, we cannot get married, and would not like to commit to be able to in 6 months as per Fiancee visa requirements. Any suggestions?

2. We are ultimately thinking of getting married in Thailand. Will the UK Immigration recognise this marriage ? once formally divorced of course!

You'll need to divorce first...no point in applying for anything before.

You could get her here a student visa - and live together on it, then apply for unmarried partner visa.

Expensive tho - think u'll need about £12-15k up front and you have to play it carefully - otherwise the HO will assume she's circumventing the immigration rules and not a genuine student - with all the horrors that brings....

As a matter of interest - is she ethnic Kazakh or ethnic Russian? Future MIL is ethnic russian from KZ and totally insists she in no way Kazakh!

Thanks for that! sorry for delay! no she's Kaz but doesnt think shes ethnic more westernised! Looks loke divorce needs to be accelerated ! cheers GC
