Does anyone know if you can renew the Tier 1 while living abroad? Do you have to be working in the UK to renew it?

No, I'll be working for an American company. I just got the visa a couple of months ago, went to the UK, found the job market dead and will wait. In the meantime I will be working for an American company, but will try again in a year as the visa lasts for three years. But can I stay out of the UK indefinitely and just renew it? OR do I have to live in the UK and work there to renew?

If in the last year you can come back to UK and make sufficient earnings ou can get an extension but not under the arrangement that you have worked out.

So if one enters the UK on a Tier 1 visa and can't find a job, can one keep coming back and forth for the 3-year duration on Tier 1? Does one need to prove that he/she is employed in the UK on subsequent entries?

(I know for renewal you need UK income, but that is not what I am asking about).

c1mth0g,
I guess it depends on the immigration officer discreation at the Port of Entry. But according to the immigration law i guess you can enter into the UK during that 3 years even if your not employed in UK.

Note: Its just my opinion. Not quite sure if i am right. Seniors please advise.
