Need help with Visa fees for dependants

Post by cheers2boss » Sun Jun 14, 2009 10:36 pm

Hi Friends, I need clarification with regards to visa fees to be paid for my wife and one child (5 months old)

I have come to UK on work permit issued by my employer in 02-Oct-2006. On 27-Feb-2008 I have applied for HSMP and received HSMP approval letter dated 23-Apr-2008. Subsequently I have applied for "further leave to remain in UK" on Oct-2008 and switched my immigration status to Tier1 (General) under "Transitional arrangements for the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme". At present I am in UK and I want to apply UK visa for my wife and one child who are currently in India

My queries are as follows:-

1) Under which category I should bring them to UK "Dependant of HSMP" or "Dependant of Tier1 (General)"?
2) What will be the fees I have to pay for my wife and one child (5 months old)? As per the website (http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/visafees.aspx) there are two different fees, one is "Dependant of tier 1 general applicant" which is Rs:54,000 and other is "Dependant of tier 1 general applicant with HSMP approval letter (transitional arrangement)" which is Rs:20,000.
3) Do I need to pay this fees twice i.e once for my wife and other for my child i.e 2x54,000 or 2x20,000?

I have searched the forum and didn't find any answers hence I would be very greatful if you can clarify this at the earliest.

Kind Regards,

push

Kind Regards,
If you are Yier-1, they will be Tier-1 dependents and accordingly the fee. If they had applied at the time you switched they would have paid fee under the transitional arrangements; unfortunately not now
Yes you need to pay fee for each dependant

Thank you very much for clarification. I have received a different answer from VFS South........very confused....please help....

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting VFS UK Visa Helpdesk.

With regard to your query,
The applicants need to apply for Dependant of tier 1 general applicant with HSMP approval letter (transitional arrangement) and visa fee is 20000 INR for each applicant. You need 1600 GBP for each applicant. These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 3 months immediately preceding and dated no more than one month prior to the date you submit your application. The balance should not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period.

Thanks & Regards
UK Helpdesk

Regards,
I would have agreed with what they said had the dependants applied at the same time as you did. Now that you are armed with an email from them you can go ahead and submit application as per their directions. Please look at What fee will my dependants pay?
They will pay the same fee as you. This will be either at the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme rate or Tier 1 (General) Migrant rate depending on the scheme under which you entered the United Kingdom.

On second thoughts - I think the fee would be INR20k as indicated by VFS and the dependants will apply as dependants of T1(G) - transitional arrangements.
