ILR after work permit but lived abroad for 8 Months

Post by jamalkhan » Tue Jun 23, 2009 1:50 pm

Once again,

I really hope some one can help

This is the case of a friend in his language
-----------------
I was given a fiver year work visa in 2004 and I was working for the same employer since then. However due to credit crises the business did not do well and almost came near collapse.

The employer also had another business in US (registered under the same company). I had no choice but to take up the employment abroad in the US for this company. I was in the impression that I will be able to settle in the US. However the business has gone burst here and I have been here for 9 months consistently

I am a family man with Kids and they have spent most of there time in UK. I have nothing left apart from a small property which I cannot sell as no buyers

Is there any way I can apply for ILR if not FLR.

Is there any commpassionate grounds for this?

Can anyone tell me where to start please

As you have described them, those are not circumstances requiring official compassion. They are what some would call the vicissitudes of an international career.

Your only option to return here if your original leave has lapsed would be on a fresh work permit or Tier 1, if you qualify. This would of course mean that your clock towards permanent residence/citizenship goes back to zero.
