Validity of General Tier 1 Visa

Post by guyuk » Tue Jun 30, 2009 7:39 pm

Hi,

I searched through the forum to find this information but couldn't find so, so please pardon me if it is repeated.

Is there any time frame that one should enter UK after getting the visa, like within 6 months after getting the Visa or else the visa won't be valid.

I am hearing this news, just wanted to confirm whether any such rule is there.

Thanks in advance,
-S

Hi,

I have a similar situation here. i have a tier 1 general visa stamped from jan 09 to jan 2012. i made a visit to UK on jan 13th but due to current market conditions returned back to home country on feb 09. i wish to reenter UK sometime next year. Will this create any problems when i apply for extension after completion of my current visa?.

@raghu_ps
You can enter any time in UK until you have validity of your visa, but to extend it you must be scoring the proper points (which definitely require earnings in last year).
I am not sure that you can get points on the earning made in location other than UK for extension of Tier1.
I hope someone will answer this and for this reason you suppose to be in UK for your last year and earn enough money to be able to score the required points.

This will help. I just found from another thread
136. considering the applicant’s previous earnings, he/she has earned money from outside the United Kingdom, he/she can include these in the calculation to score points for earnings. The applicant should provide details of the overseas earnings, in the original currency in which they were paid. The applicant should convert these earnings into pounds sterling by using the closing exchange rate on the OANDA website for the last day of the period for which he/she has claimed earnings in that currency.
We will not make any uplift calculations

137. on overseas earnings for extension applications. The applicant must clearly show on the application form which of the earnings were made in the United Kingdom and which were earned overseas. We will add the pounds sterling value of these overseas earnings to any United Kingdom earnings. We will then consider the total figure against the points-scoring table above.
