Pt2 Q11 "Arrangements to seek work"...any refusals

Hi all,

Close to finishing my application and for the points-based sections I'd say it's fairly straightforward: 25 for Masters from good university, 25 for experience (have >10y but only documenting 5y for convenience) with comprehensive employer letter from big companies, 25 for earnings and 10 for educated partner.

What's causing me stress is Pt2 Q11 about the arrangements I've made to seek work. I've read a number of posts with suggested responses but my question is: has anyone ever been refused their HSMP on the basis of this question, or for that matter, on any of the non-points areas of the application?

For an out-of-country applicant it's tough to show anything substantial in this section b/c you can't actually follow through on any of it i.e. applying for jobs without having any clue when/whether you'll get a visa is just going to annoy people (as a hiring manager it would certainly annoy me).

I've documented registrations to job sites, listed 30+ suitable positions in correct salary range, presented industry information showing that the market's good and have a letter from an international recruitment firm saying I'll easily find a position GBP55+ and that they'll be providing formal introductions to agencies in London.

Am I worrying about nothing?

What ever proofs you mentioned seem fine for that question. I had just provided job ads printouts taken directly from their websites. Just hightlight the possible jobs in the same line of your current work.

My case is also almost similar to yours. Have10+ years experience. But documenting only 5+ years for convenience (25 points), Earnings (25 Points), Master degree (25 points).. I submitted on Sept 1, waiting for decision..

"about the arrangements I've made to seek work", I have shown only job advertisements in the UK job sites, and the queries (Emails) I received from recruitment consultants.

When are you submitting your application Luke? Are you applying from India? Are you in computer software line?

I'm Australian, and applying from Melbourne -- hopefully in the next week or so. I'm in Online Product Development in Telecoms / New Media.

Sounds like the emphasis is on the points, but they just want to make sure that they're not letting in people who are highly skilled but incapable of find themselves work.

If anyone can reproduce the response they used for this question on a successful application, that would be useful.

The sites I've looked at tend to be specific to my needs. Some more generic sites to look at are jobsite.co.uk, jobserve.co.uk. The relocation specialist I've spoken to tends to focus on this market (Australia/NZ) so you'll need to find someone who specialises in where you are and what you do.

At the risk of repeating a lecture I've seen delivered here before, I'd have thought this sort of information as a key component of your application is something which you'd need to seek out yourself, starting off with a couple of hours (days!) of solid Google work to work out what's what.

Again, I don't want to sound preachy, especially as I've just been asking questions myself, but what I was looking for was information which can only be sourced from someone whose application was approved -- I can't get that anywhere else. The generic stuff -- like how to find a job -- is basic stuff you need to be working very hard at yourself, not in order to get the form filled in but to be successful once you've arrived.

Pls don't take offence, it's just that I've read enough horror stories abt the unprepared and I'd like to see as few people as possible in that situation!

Can anyone on the board refer to some job sites pertaining to administrative/managerial/project management assignments in UK, especially in Manchester. (I have already registered with jobs.ac.uk)

Would Manchester be a good place to hunt for such job opportunities.

Also can I get any info about any recruitment consultants regarding the above mentioned fields.

Just to add that I have a masters degree from Univ. of Manchester in Development Administration and Management (1998-99) plus more than 15 years of experience in administrative assignments of civil service of Pakistan.

Can someone tell me where do I stand vis-a-vis job market in the UK ?

I think you have collected adequate stuff against the mentioned point. I had sent about 15-20 prints of job-ads in my line of work showing salaries above GBP 40,000 from prominent jobsites. I got my appl approved last oct.
