WP period vs visa entry clearance period! Need help

Post by maverick12 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:38 pm

Hi All,

I was given a work permit valid for 60 months and also given an entry clearance valid for the same period. My entry clearance start date is January 20 2005 but I didnt arrive in the UK until March 30, 2005. Since I think the work permit is valid from when you start work, I have enough to get to 5 years and apply for ILR. However since my entry clearance will expire before I can apply for ILR (28 days before your 5th year) would I that create a problem? ie do I need to apply an extension of visa to bring it to 5 years? and how can I apply? thanks in advance for the help.

If your visa runs out before you apply for ILR (Even considering 28 days rule) then you have to extend your visa by applying for FLR.

ok cool. thanks a lot mate. Forgive my ignorance but how can I apply for FLR (I assume this means further leave to remain)? and what are the requirements?
