on work permit - can i take out a year for full time study?

I would like to do further studies in the UK. Am currently on work permit. Employer may give a year unpaid leave to allow me to do studies. Would this affect my status? Is it allowed? Please advise

Studying during WP is not a problem but the situation gets tricky when you go for the next renewal where you need to have enough earnings points to qualify for ur renewal... so plan and decide ur case based on ur current visa validity

Thanks tvn_ramesh, my WP expires 2012 but i wanted to study for a year before then - would this work out - i didn't want to call HO to ask in case they ask for reference numbers etc

Technically you can not leave work and study full time for 1 year.

Called HO finally to ask - they said employer needs to write to seek permission to do so otherwise visa would be invalid as it was taken to do specific work. Going part-time in the circumstances!!!
