Residence permit for student dependant in France

Dear All,

Me and my wife both are non-EU citizens. My spouse is going to study for L3 in France. French embassy told us that I can apply alongside my spouse to accompny her. My question is that, will I be allowed to work or study in France after getting my residence permit as a student dependant?
