Why can't UK Embassy in India email outcome of visa process?

I applied for Tier 1 G in USA with UK Consulate in Newyork and they sent me an email on visa approval saying "Your visa has been issued.".

This thread is to talk about reasons on why UK Embassy in India is not doing the same? Kindly contribute the knowledge you have on this.

Our email id is in the application. Instead of VFS sending the email with status, why not UK Embassy in India directly send out the email with status like "Your visa has been issued and your passport is ready for collection.". Applicants would be happy to see such an email rather than just "ready for collection".

This is the response from VFS on asking them the same question:

With regard to your query, please be informed that the status "Application is ready for collection" is the common update. The status on the visa will be disclosed only when you collect your passport from the application center.
We understand your concern and would like to keep you informed that the embassy maintains a very stringent policy on confidentiality and works on a secure system to ensure privacy and security.

But before you/me/we ask why India cant do that or cant do this to improve services.. ask yourselves wat u/me contributed to india to Improve..

Buddy, sitting here and commenting is easy... than being in the hotspot/seat..

I was thinking same thing for application in UK. Not even email. We all have reference number. We can do leg work for them if they just let us log into a system that will give an automatic update. Bet it would reduce their 'heavy call volume' by at least 70%! LOL

In lighter vein, potentially reduce the need of lazy slogs working in home office. Why somebody axe their own feet?
Showing high volume of calls and cost gives impression that they are working under a huge workload(needless to say they need need hundreds on things to get to work) and hence get more money from government.

Hehe, this is probably true. But maybe they could work on other stuff. Or give more time for training so they do not answer questions wrong when someone does call.

I first thought it could be due to VFS as middle-man(/woman). Since it is same in UK as well, what could be the reason for this difference?

Anyone helping to find out the answer would be helpful for so many waiting souls. I do agree there are several other issues to be sorted out by them, but this thread is to find out the reason for this one issue.

In USA I got the following email on approval. Neat isn't it? This is what is important for someone eagerly waiting for the visa. Not the stupid "ready for collection" status on their website.

Your visa has been issued.
Delivery times:
USA: Overnight
Bermuda, Bahamas, Central/South America and Caribbean:
- 2 days if you prepaid for Express service
-2-5 days for mail returned to the British Embassy/High Commission

If they focus on other work/training then they have to do that work which I doubt. Providing correct information to applicant which not benefit UKBA as people will start applying with correct documents and HO has to grant visa to all. This will loose the potential re-apply fee.Needless to say this will remove many visa consultants from the market. You suggestion is suicidal...

I guess this will be an excellent topic for an investigative reporter to uncover the nasty "legal" robbery in countries where more people apply for UK Visas and in countries where people are immigration literate to prepare their own applications. This may explain why UKBA cust service in USA is much better than in India. USA gets very less migration/long-term UK visa applications.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here? (1) Do you really think ppl who do not have a clue about whats happening to their application would know what are the operating procedures (& why) for HO in different countries? (2) Even if we find out, can we do anything about it?
May be its worth sending an email to HO so that they look for allowing an almost realtime online tracking of application rather than focusing just on an email update when the application hs been decided.

The Australian BHC sends an email when the passport is dispatched, and if the visa was approved, states as much.

Refusals used to get no email but now get an email saying only that the passport has being dispatched with no reference to approval/refusal.
