Can I extend my Tier 1 visa more than once?

Post by peterpan » Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:40 am

I have a quick question regarding extending the tier 1. I got my tier 1 visa 10 months ago and planning on going to UK next month (It took me a while to make plans for the UK because of professional reasons). Given that almost a year has passed since I have tier 1, is it possible to for me to extend my visa more than once in order to meet ILR requirements?

Yes you can extend as many times you want provided you meet all the requirements of extenstion at the time of applying.

In continuation with the discussion, I have a query. If we go for 2nd extension, do we get the points for age accordingly. For example, if a person gets 20 points during initial application, he/she will get 20 points during 1st extension also. So during 2nd extension, will the person get 20 points again..?

thanks

I may not agree with nksg,

if you have claimed points on your age during initiall application then you shall always retain the points during your extensions.

That means you will get points for your age.

That is only possible in ideal cases. For eg If I have got Tier-1(G) when I was 32(i.e. Border of 32 and 33 years) but at the time of extension I will be 34 or 35 and hence i will not be able to score the same points again.

I will re-phrase it,

If you have claimed points for age during initial application then you can claim points for age at the first extension. But if you go for second extension then its tricky.
Ex; Initial EC – age 31 – 5 points
1st extension -- age 33 – 5 points.
2nd extension – age 35 – 0 points

But since when PBS was introduced, to qualify for ILR you need to 5 years and you can complete with just one extension but since its going to be more now ( if they have points for Probationary citizenship also) they have to have points for age at 2nd extension.
