Hi Ispno 1
I am a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and have applied for HSMP since 17th February 2004. Still awaiting for a reply from the Immigration Authorities.
As they are processing applications received on 16th Feb 2004 , I hope to receive a reply within days to come.
So will let you know in due course

Hi Parrian

Thanks for your reply. i have a problem for u and Chess, Kalyami as well. How does one equate UK professional qualification as to whether they are equal to a bachelors or masters for the HSMP program. I looked at the website of NARIC and they say they do not equate british qualification to a british qualification specifically.

My problem is that i am getting conflicting advice from different people. i am an affiliate member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants which means you become an affiliate member once u have completed all the exams of the program. As per one consultants assessment my membership is not equivalent to a masters while another one says it is.

How do i certify from the HSMP people as to its equivalency?
or How does HSMP equate local UK professional qualifications in terms of masters or a bachelors degree?

One otehr consultant advised me to contact the ACCA guys and ask them to equate it for me. Would the HSMP people accept the decision of the ACCA?

Would be grateful to all of you if u can advise me on this matter.

Thanks

If you search topics with contributions from "hsmphopefull" and posibly started by hsmphopeful - you will get your answer (on this new forum - but feel free to visit the old one as well)

I think the topic was somethinging like "Is chartered Information Systems Practioner......acceptable for HSMP"???

Many of us contributed to this topic and the agreement if I recall correctly was that these professional qualifications assist in proving employability in the UK rather than equivalence to Masters degree(s)

Ispno1,

I thought I had given you your answer.

IMHO, you will not get any points for ACCA affiliate - it is not equivalent to Bachelors or Masters.

ACCA affiliate will help you prove that you are employable in the UK.

Dont forget that apart from getting the 65 points (approval)- you need to meet the eligibility criteria (i.e , you speak/understand english, you can continue your career in the UK, you are not bankrupt, you have sufficient funds etc).

I hope that helps

Hi Ispno1

You said that you are an affiliate member once you complete all the ACCA exams.Do you mean that you are a graduate of the ACCA ? You become a graduate once you complete all exams set by the Association .After 30 to 36 months working in industry or in practice ,you can apply to the Association for membership.
Holding such a qualification is equivalent to a master's degree and being a member of our Association will allow you to pursue your career in the accountancy profession in the UK .
Do not forget that the ACCA qualification is a UK qualification and does not have to be equated with Naric .
My advice is for you to send a mail to our Association at www.accaglobal.com and ask the registrar to confirm the equivalence of your qualification.Normally the exams are set to a standard equivalent to a masters degree.

Thanks Parrian and Dokwal for your help.

Parrian i am a graduate of ACCA ( i.e i have cleared all the examinations of ACCA). I have a question for u Parrian is a graduate of ACCA equated to a bachelors level or masters level. as per my understanding you say that an associate member of ACCA is the only one to claim that this professional qualification is equivalent to a masters level degree? from what i know of if u clear all the examinations of ACCA u are eligible to apply for an MBA degree from Oxford Brookes university Uk and from this i deduced that an affiliate/graduate should claim 25 pts as he is equivalent to a masters level from a UK university

Dokwal thanks for ur reply as well. do u know of any affiliate who applied to this scheme and he was awarded 25 pts for being an affiliate memeber of ACCA.

Thanks

Hi ispno 1
It is a fact that having passed the examination set by our Association, graduateship are considered to be equivalent to a masters degree. However I would advise you to obtain confirmation from ACCA.
As you are a graduate ,you will be able to work in the Uk ,but you may have to start at a low level as you will be considered by a prospective employer as not having sufficient experience in the profession.
Don't worry , you will get your 25 points
