Schengen visa help for going spain and not france!

Post by gagan2sandhu » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:52 pm

Hello

I have got Schenhen visa from France Embassy in UK but I wanted to go Spain instead of going France. Can I do that?

The reason is that France is very expensive and doesnt have much of holiday package deals but Spain offers various good deals. I spoke to Spain embassy and they have got dates for appointment in end of August which is too late for me.

Can I travel Spain on french schengen visa? If so, Would i get in trouble in Spain whilst at immigration counter at airport? I dont want to take big risk by booking a holiday and then they send me back from airport or dont let me fly from london?

Anybody knows anything about this, please do drop a line or two?

A schengen visa is a schengen visa, so you wouldn't get in trouble in Spain. You might however have trouble getting another visa from the French embassy if you don't set foot in their country at all! You're usually supposed to get a visa from the country consulate to which you are travelling, or where you will stay the longest.

I second Rozen's post.

Do ensure that in the near future you travel to France and have entry/exit stamps, confirmed travel bookings, boarding passes e.t.c to prove it. The French are quite mindful of this and may refuse your next application if there's no proof of stepping foot in France.

I can confirm this - happened to my mate's Russian wife - no more French-issued Schengens for her!

I would be amazed if you were able to get an appointment at the French embassy quicker than the Spanish - every time I've looked at the website there are no appointments available... perhaps you'll be able to arrange something if you are prepared to book using the £1 per minute telephone booking hotline.

thanks four replies but i understand that there would be a trouble in future to get visa from french embassy. But, Can i take the risk now to book spain holiday as I am still feeling wary about any trouble happen at the airports.

I am willing to get refusal from french embasy in future and wanted to go spain on this current french schengen.
