Uk resident wanting to take pakisatni husband on holiday?

Post by Sshabir » Sat Aug 01, 2009 3:58 pm

I am a uk resident witha brithish passport - i want to take my husband on holiday who has a pakistani passport on a spouse visa for 2 years - his visa expires in may 09 - he told me i can apply for a visa for him on his behalf for free -
i read something about applying for a Schengen visa - is that the only visa i can apply on his behalf for free - i know what countries we are allowed to travel on that visa - if we go to eu do i ahve to apply for his visa or is a marriage certificate is enough to show at airports and travel documents - i have not booked anywhere - want to gather information together then start looking for a holuiday to prague or spain maybe for october - do i apply for the form then book an appointment with the embassy of the country we wish to go to - i am looking to know the procedure to go to either prague - italy or spain -

This is the first time i am applying - ie which is why i am unknowledged on the topic!

Yeah i have but i picked up on some of the procedure then got confused on some as many members where from diff countries - does that same rule apply for a pakisatni passport holder - is it jus for a Schengen visa i can apply for him for free? If i wanted to go to turkey would i have to pay for his visa?

Does anyone have the link for Schengen visa download?

Depends on first country of landing or main destination, apply at their embassy - usually u have to book visa an 0906 booking number costing about £15 and then probably a trip to london for an appointment, actual visa should be free but u will probably have to pay the booking charge and possibly an 'admin' fee which is highly illegal but they have you by the balls.

If am looking to go czech republic - can i not download the form fill it in - and then book my holiday and go to the airport and show it there - or do i have to still book an appointment with an embassy have it stamped on his passport n pay the booking fees but not the actual visa - do i book an appointment with czech republic embassy then and from there he will have a Schengen visa which last up to a year or is it 6 months/ once he has that visa can we then travel to any Schengen countries without filling out forms and just showing the stamp on his passport at arrival at the airport?

No!

http://www.mzv.cz/london/en/visa_and_co ... _been.html

It's the ripoff huge telephone call system so u ring that, and book an appointment, if u chicken it up - u call again with another charge so make sure u listen and have all ur docs to hand.

Then u go to London to hand docs over and the visa when issued will be either posted on (at a cost) or u collect it with another trip. It should be issued free tho.

First visa will usually be (but not always) a single entry short term one till they 'trust you'

Family members of EU Citizens who require a visa can apply for it either in person (without prior appointment) at the Czech Embassy in London from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm or by post.

According to that website we can just apply by post - no telephone charge - no train charge to go and see them -

Ur husband is not a family member of an EU citizen, that's a different visa - ur a UK citizen not using EU immigration rules. Ur husband has a UK spouse visa not a Family Member visa.

Too right - our last Schengen visa cost;

£16 phone
£184 Train Fare
£25 health insurance
£35 visa (not my spouse)
£65 crappest hotel room in London.
£25 taxi

Bear in mind ILR won't help - ur husband will need British Citizenship for via-free travel in EU.

If u live outside london u can apply for a French shengen visa by post, but the French idea of london is HUGE...includes Dorset!

INDEFINITE LEAVE to REMAIN! What your husband needs to apply for to remain in the UK, as he nears the end of his two year spouse visa.

These two countries are not part of the EU! So if you normally require a visa to go there, then YES, you will have to pay for it.

I noticed whilst filling the form for czech republic visa it states u need a recent letter from your employer - why isnt a payslip sufficient enough? Why do u have to show a letter from your employer when am applying for my spouse?

If those are their requirements, then those are their requirements! You will question them until you're blue in the face, but they obviously won't give you the visa if you don't comply. Like someone said, they have you by the balls! So it's up to you. How badly do you want the visa from them?

Have had a look. Where does it imply that you, as a British passport holder, may need to apply for a visa?

OP i don't think you need a visa, infact i can go as far as saying that i am certain you will not need one.

I am a bit uncomfortable about the requirement they set for issuing the visa to your husband. I think it is against the rules. You only need a marriage certificate and evidence of your citizenship.

Therefore i don't think they are right in requesting employer's letter. That is going way over the top.

Whether we like it or not, a lot of embassies/countries don't play by the rules! FACT!

Here is an excerpt from your link...

"Tourist Visa to Prague Czech Republic
Categorized in: Visa Requirements If you’re travelling to the Czech Republic you require valid passport or ID card (for EU members). EU and EEC citizens do not need a visa for any purpose of visit. Czech Republic is now part of Schengen zone."

It is even highlighted in bold print!

You say you have a UK passport. UK is part of the EU!
The 'list' is for countries not in the EU, but whose nationals don't need a visa to travel to Czech, anyway!
So which is 'your' country which is not listed?

Simply, UK PASSPORT = NO VISA TO CZECH!
