What exactly is your question? You're on a student visa in UK, and now you want a work permit/green card for Denmark? Is that the question?

First finish your studies.

After this you can qualify to be a knowledge migrant in many EU countries.

There is no EU blue card as yet, it's only a proposal.

Visa for Belgium ...

Post by Deepak Sharma » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:53 am

Hello,

I am in UK on HSMP visa and got my visa extended until Nov/2012.
But, my current contract ends in Aug/2009.
And, my question is that I see a lot of oracle job openings in Belgium.
I would like to migrate to Belgium.

Could anyone please advice me on getting the visa for Belgium ?
What is the process ? ... Any related links would be helpful.

Seniors please advice ... your help is greatly appreciated ...

Kind Regards,
Deepak

I think you would need a Belgian Work Permit applied for by the employer. I think only The Netherlands has the equivalent of our HSMP.

I was perusing the IND (Netherlands immigration) website for their HSMP info, and came across this rather hilarious statement there:
http://www.ind.nl/EN/verblijfwijzer/ver ... re&lang=en
"Professional soccer players, ministers of religion, teachers of religion and prostitutes are not eligible for a residency as highly skilled migrant."

And I had always thought prostitutes were highly skilled!
:D

For my sanity sake, please tell me the dutch don't have a residency category for Prostitutes.

These people truly seem to have lost the plot.

Prostitution is a LEGAL trade in The Netherlands, and they pay taxes as well! So why not?

I suppose you are right, it just came as a shock to my socially conservative mindset that is all. There are ethical aspect to it though, however the law of the land is certainly the most superior.

Prostitution may be a legal trade in the Nederlands, but the question was in the context of immigration. Are you saying someone can migrate to the Nederlands on the basis of their 'experience' as a prostitute? That sounds rather strange to me.

In 'the context of immigration', it is NOT a highly skilled profession! But it IS a recognised profession in The Netherlands!

I supposed this open a new dimension on the definition of Profession.

Which is supposed to be: An occupation in which one has a professed expertise in a particular area; a job, especially one requiring a high level of skill or training.

"World's oldest profession" and all that! Anyway, think I've said my piece on this particular subject. As the Dragons would say... 'I'm out'!
