Help with PBS Dependant form

On page 17 of the PBS dependant form:

Q: D1, did the dependant obtain entry clearance or visa before entering the uk?

What should I tick? Because I came here 8yrs ago, and didnt need this to enter the country, but when I did come to the UK, they did stamp a 6months visa in my passport.

And it says if you dont have these my application will be refused. I dont understand.
