Aussie needing advice:)

Post by richie76 » Thu Oct 13, 2005 4:30 am

Hey there,

Just have a few crazy things going through my head on how I wanna go about living and working in UK.
I am an Australian but have Spanish Parents ( both live in Australia) and am considered a Spanish Citizen......Now I was thinking that re-applying for my Spanish Passport to enter UK would be the best option instead of doin a Working Holiday Visa through an Australian Passport..does the fact that I have always lived permanently in Australia hinder my chances of making life easier on myself by renewing my spanish passport and entering the UK with that instead of my Australian Passport?....Is it as easy as me arriving at Heathrow with my EU Passport and applying for the Workers Registration Scheme no matter where I reside?...Sorry to fry your brain...just need someone with an experience on this to let me know if I may encounter problems because I'm not what you would call SKILLED in the workforce and time is running out for me regarding a Working Holiday Visa.

Any replies would be much appreciated.
Thanks for takin time to read this:)

Richie

Richie, using the Spanish passport is distinctly easier. As a Spanish citizen you have full ability to live and work in the UK, or indeed any other EEA country.

You mention the Worker Registration Scheme. That would not apply to you. It applies only to citizens of the new EU States that joined in May 2004.

You will have the ability to work in the UK as soon as you arrive in the UK. But don't be surprised if employers want to see your Spanish passport in order to prove that ability to work.
