Spouse Visa

Post by Swannie » Fri Oct 14, 2005 11:22 pm

Hi

My fiance has recently been granted a fiance visa for six months to come to the UK. She was actually granted a fiance visa without an interview, just sent one via post when she applied ( she is japanese ). My question is regarding how we go about getting a spouse visa once we marry. Does anybody have any advice on what forms we need to download or what evidence we need ? My fiance seems to think we need multiple copies of our marriage certificate. Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you

Just download the FLR(M) form from the IND website. It explains everything they need in minute detail.

Swannie, don't overlook the advice given to you in Topic : Fiancée Visa Question. That is, the two of you, together, need to go to a Designated Register Office. The nearest one to Berwick on Tweed is in Newcastle upon Tyne, so a bit of a drive for you.

Some Register Offices operate an appointments system for giving the required Notice of Intention to Marry, so advisable you phone Newcastle before setting out.

Converting the fiancée visa into a spouse visa is really a simple formality. Prove the marriage has happened and the spouse visa will be granted. Your fiancée will presumably apply by post ... cost £330 .. rather than in person at a PEO, cost £500, given your long distance to your nearest PEO.
