citizenship question:how many MPs does the UK parliament hav

Post by rogerroger » Fri Oct 21, 2005 2:22 pm

Hello

How many MPs does the UK parliament have?
ok i can find it out by doing a google, but more importantly this is not to be found in chapters 2,3 or 4(at least i dont remmeber seeing it there), does this mean this question or other questions which is supposedly common knowledge can be asked?

i have come across and memorised the following numbers
welsh assembly: 60
scottish parliament: 129
stormont(is it still called stormont): 108

or maybe the scots have 108 and the irish 129

they are around 350 to 400 MPs....I have not googled this but based on my recollection of the 2005 campains

Is this a 'multiple choice question' ? then one would have to use 'common sense'

With respect can I suggest you direct matters/posts on the test to the existing sticky else there may be a multitude of queries on this scattered across multiple pages of the forum. Let me know if this is agreeable or otherwise as I intend to lock this post. Thank you for your understanding.

How many MPs? Currently 647. The number varies a bit from time to time as boundary changes take effect.

Their parties? Details on this webpage.

Lots more information on that Parliament website.

kayalami, i will direct questions to the exisiting stickey

i just thought that each question might become an individual thread, and if there are a host of questions, the existing stickey might become to big

john, i check the link out, the count is 646, my question is since this information is not in the book (at least i have not been able to locate it), can i be quizzed on it or any other "obvious" information in the quiz?

anybody out there who has given the test, can they say if the questions are all from chapeters 2,3,4

Roger, 647? 646? That is weird! Earlier today I rechecked my addition before posting! But I agree that the current numbers add up to 646. Has an MP died?

I think the book does not have the exact number because it does vary. I recollect that in the last Parliament, before the General Election in May, there were 651 MPs. But it would be helpful for the book to give some idea.
