NHS services, is it a violation of visa rules?

Post by tuhadda_fuffar » Thu Aug 27, 2009 9:23 am

Hi Guys,

I am on Post Study Work visa in the UK. My wife who is dependent on me has developed some medical condition for which she has to be operated by NHS hospital. However her operation can be delayed and we have plans to move back to our country in 4-5 months.

My problem is, as NHS has already agreed to do this operation and given us an appointment, could this affect my immigration status? On our visas it is stated “No recourse to public fundsâ€

Thanks for the information guys.

There is another point in my mind after reading above links.
It says that to receive NHS treatment, one has to be in full time employment or a student. Now the problem is my wife does not have permission to work in this country and she is not a student either, as we have this CCL case against us and her passport is with home office.

Do you think this can create any troubles for us in future, if we wish to take NHS treatment?

Thanks once again.

What if I should need hospital treatment? wrote:This exemption applies to your spouse, civil partner and children (under the age of 16 or 19 if in further education) if they are living with you in the UK on a permanent basis.
