You mean the countries you mentioned don't issue parmanent residence after 5yrs of legally residing ?Obie wrote:This rule doesn't apply to residents of UK, Ireland and Denmark, as they are not signatory to it.
I have been researching on whether someone who obtained PR by virtue of directive 2004/38EC from these nations can benefit from it. I suspect the answer to this will be a yes.
Unfortunately, the OP is not here to clarrify us but from what I understand. The OP was asking if he/she stays in UK for 3 years and stays in Germany for 2 years...can he/she combine this residence stays together and apply for a parmanent residence/long term residence..I think either in UK or Germany.Obie wrote:Charles, i think , if i am correct, the OP's enquiry is in regards to Long term resident status for non-Eu nationals who have lived lawfully in a member state other than the 3 i mentioned, for a period of 5 years and hence earned the right of Long term Resident or permanent resident.
With that status, they are able to settle in another memberstate of their choosing, other than the one that issued their resident status . With rights on par with that of an EU national exercising treaty rights in another member state.
I hope i make sense.
