Entry in UK with HSMP visa on expired passport

Post by abidi83 » Mon Sep 14, 2009 9:10 am

Hi there,

I have HSMP Visa on my previous passport attached with my new one. I was wondering can you enter UK as many times as long as expired passport is attached with the new one? Another question where do I extend my VISA from (expiring this year) as HSMP VISA was not granted from UK? Basically my HSMP application was rejected (could not extend from FTS to HSMP) here in UK in 2007 so had to go back to my country to re-apply.

Thanking you in anticipation.

YES you can.If you are not feeling comfortable with keeping two passports, you can transfer your existing visa to new passport Another question where do I extend my VISA from (expiring this year) as HSMP VISA was not granted from UK? Basically my HSMP application was rejected (could not extend from FTS to HSMP) here in UK in 2007 so had to go back to my country to re-apply. Do you have HSMP visa now? If yes and if you are in the country, you need to apply for HO for the same. HSMP schema is closed now..but quivalent Tier-1(G) is in place. You need to apply for Tier-1 (extension) from HSMP.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Thanks for the detailed anwser Chetanojha, I am in UK with HSMP stamped from my country. Cool so it means I apply for Tier-1 extension here in UK. I found out you can apply for extension any time but any idea how long before (roughly) I need to make postal application to have my VISA extended from the date after the current one expires?

People have applied and received extension even 5 months before the current expired. I would advice you to apply atleast 2-3 months in advance(postal application) so that you have enough buffer in hand in case result is unexpected.Extension start date varies from case to case. Many people got from the last date of their current leave expires whereas many received earlier. I received the date on wihch visa was stamped on my passport(which is a week after my leave expired)
