i came to england at 26/11/2001 , i got a permissoin to stay on 21/1/2002 the permisson was for (4 years) after that i applied for IRL and i got my IRL in 2006 after one year on 2007 i applied for citizenship while iam wating to get the citizenship i got a problem (fighting) and i'vbeen arrested by police and got court then criminal record so home office refused my application for citizenship ,,,, 3 month ago i applied for passport the one i include and i asked home office they told me to apply for certificat of travel (blak colour) ,,ok i applied (£215 fee) and i got it but its valid for one year as in the (payment guidance) says valid for five years or in line with leave,,, this link is a form and (payment guidance)

my question is why its valied for one years for me as my situation is defrent from othe applicant could you please help and give me some advice i will appreciate ...

Ok, the UKBA info supports what you say, as per this extract:-

"A certificate of travel issued to an adult will usually be valid for five years if you have permission to stay in the United Kingdom permanently (we call this 'indefinite leave to remain'). If you have temporary permission to stay in the United Kingdom (we call this 'limited leave to remain'), your certificate of travel will usually be valid for the same period as your permission to stay here."

So if you have ILR, your certificate of travel should be valid for 5 years. I think the only people who can tell you why it's only valid for one year are the people who issued it - so all you can do is ask them.

i have a (indefinite leave to remain in the uk ) residence permite ,i think i should have five years ,,,many thanks for your advice ,,, :)
