Bank statements (deposits AND withdrawals?)

Post by quaiquai » Tue Sep 29, 2009 10:11 pm

I just received the original copies of my bank statements in the mail and for the 12-month calendar year, its 40 pages. Is it normal to submit such a huge bank statement? Should I have requested one with only the deposits?

Do the caseworkers want to sift through 40 pages of every purchase made with my debit card?

I plan on highlighting or putting a sticky note next to each deposit made for employment purposes.

What has everyone else done? In all, my application is going to be running close to 80 pages with all of the supporting evidence. Is this normal?

There are some active threads debating this in the forum.

To summarize:

1- You should not disturb the originals in a way that they look like forged.
2- You can put a table in your cover letter about the dates when you received the salary, so it would be easier for case worker to locate the transactions.
3- Putting sticky is a good idea too, it will not disturb the original and will make caseworker's life easy.

I think 80 pages pack is a normal application.

Good luck.

Yes it is best to include everything. Highlighting or putting a sticky note is acceptable, as long as the figures don't look tampered with.

Alternatively, you can create a separate covering note which mentions which page your salary credits are displayed on.

As for the size of the application, don't worry. My application which I sent by post weighed 1 kilo.
Please do not send me any Private Messages as I do not check these.

I applied with four dependents and mine application was 2.4 kg, I could reduce it's weight by printing on both side of page but I think one side printing is more presentable.
I included a cover letter matchig salary slip with bank statement and I also highlighted the transactions. I read somewhere in guidance that u can highlight bank statement?

While doing my initial application I had called HO and checked on highlighting. The information I received was that highlighting in the original bank statements can be considered tampering originials. So what I did was photo copied the statements and highlighted the salary transactions in the photo copy. Include explanation about this in your cover letter.

Comming to actual question.. Is highligting necessary? I would say not at all required.. we are just trying to help the caseworker.. i even did not highlight them and when i received my docs back i found the highlights done by CW... let them do their work..

But i would say if you make a photocopy n highlight n mention in the cover letter.. if the CW dont read it or misunderstand ur copy docs as Not original and reject and send it back.. then though u r correct this will only delay the process..

but if somebody wants to highlight still use a pencil and becareful with the figures on the statements..
