!Please help- maintenance funds for valid work permit holder

Post by vg279 » Thu Oct 01, 2009 10:37 pm

Thanks for reading

I have a valid work permit issued during the old system. I have been recently promoted with the same employer as a result need to start fresh with a general tier 2 PBS application.

Since I bought a house recently my bank account did go down to less than £ 800 for a few days.

I have been promoted within the same company.

Do i select

a. change of employment or

b. Initial switching application?

in dependent application form section H5

Do i need to show maintenace fund for myself and my dependent?
Do i need to give english test?

Do I need to show maintenance funds in my case as guidance notes say that anyone with a valid work permit gets automatic 10 points for maintenance funds without showing any proof.

Do i need to show maintenance funds for my dependents?
Unless your current visa is being expired.. any changes in employement do not require new application for visa.. in such cases you/your employer should inform the HO about the changes.. hope this fits ur question.. or be more specific for others to respond..

tvn_ramesh, I don't think that's correct.

Obviously we don't know the details of vg279's current work permit or their promotion/new job details. But any change of employment other than a "technical change of employment" now needs a Tier 2 application:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... lications/

vg279, in order to benefit from the transitional arrangements for work permit holders:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... angementa/

the guidance says you must be "applying to continue to work for the same employer in the same job, that your previous leave was granted for". If you've been promoted, you might have to satisfy the full Tier 2 criteria:

"If you are an existing work permit holder and you wish to change employment... you need to meet the full Tier 2 criteria."

Maybe others can provide more detail.
