Reference number via email?

I sent off my application on Thursday, now I'm wondering how and when we get the reference numbers.

Will they email me? I'm not really sure how the process works now that my application is out at the consulate (in Chicago, US).

Do they tell you if you've been approved or not via email before you receive your passport back or will I not know if I was approved until I get my passport back in the mail and see if there's a visa in it or not.

They say the processing time for Chicago is 3-5 business days but we'll see!

you should get acknowledgment letter by post with reference number in it. have patience
