I wish to claim points for my age in my Tier 1 application and was under the impression that the original passport which would be enclosed alongwith the application will suffice as proof as it contains the DOB.
However please see this guidance document:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary
This seems to suggest that in most cases only an original birth certificate or original drivers license will serve as proof and only in exceptional cases will alternative proof in the form of notarized copy of passport page will be accepted.
I do not have a driving license and have no document that can be termed 'birth certificate'. In India, the only document that ever served to officially show my DOB was my 10th standard board exam certificate and my passport. Does anyone else face this situation? What explanation did you provide to HO? And finally what does it mean to 'notarize' the passport page copy?
