Marriage Photo & Wedding card is it really necessary??

Post by thikpal » Mon Oct 12, 2009 11:04 am

Hi All,

I would like to know from when Marriage photos & wedding card became official documents to apply for dependent visa.
I assume if we apply from in-country dependent VISA all we need to send is only marriage certificate (not Photos & wedding card).
If we apply from out of country (to VFS) why do we have to submit marriage photos & wedding card??

Q1. Has the VFS made this as a part of official document list?
Q2. Are we (applicant) being overcautious and sending all this unnecessary documents??

I assume people got dependent VISA successfully without submitting Photos & Wedding card.. I am curious to know is there anyone who got rejected specifically because of this reason.

I only submitted Marriage Certificate for my intial HSMP(In-country). Not sure about VFS, but for VFS marriage certificate is all you need. Your wife will have your name in their passport anyway.

hi,
I got married in India and my husband is on HSMP. I applied from India, Hyderabad, VFS.

I was told to submit marriage photos, wedding card and ofcoz marriage certificate. Infact the VFS officer dint accept my application till my husband gave him a written letter.
This was in last year nov 2008, luckily my husband was with me in India so we cud give him the written letter there itself.

Infact we had to argue with VFS guys for the letter, if that is a new change then they shud mention it before itself.

Can you please elaborate about writter letter you mentioned?
Is it the invitation letter from main applicant or is it different?

@Duvvuri..

The letter you are mentioning is not related to the marriage certificate..

@thinkpal..

yes it is good and required to submit a letter written by the main application when his/her dependents are applying for visa..

this letter sometimes called as sponserletter.. where the main applicant explains to the case worker that his/her dependents with such n such passport, dob etc.. details how they are related to him and that they are completely dependent on him/her and that is the reason he/she wants their dependent to join him/her in UK and finally requesting to kindly grant them visa...

PM me if you want a format of this..

please dont mix things and unnecessarly get confused.. keep it staight n simple..

Thanks Ramesh....

I am not at all confused...
My question is very much focussed towards "Marriage Photos and Wedding cards"...
Especially VFS asking for these two things, which is something i am unable to tolerate..
Anyway thats the way the system works, we cant do much about it...
