Travel Abroad and Visits to the UK: doesnt fit

Post by pred02 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:25 am

Hi,

I am applying from the US therefore the 1st part of my application has to be done online. In the box "Have you travelled outside your country?" and "Have you ever visited the United Kingdom" the online box only accepts a certain number of characters therefore I cannot fit in all my visits.

I just listed the most recent visits for both the UK and other countries.

If I need to provide a paper addendum I can do that for all my UK visits, however as I lived in Europe for 3 years and have over 100 stamps in my passport it will be impossible to trace back all my other visits outside the US (sometimes my passport wasn't even stamped and I went to an other country for a day).

Thanks!

I did the same thing since I lived in Italy and traveled around quite a bit. I put the most recent trips then added a paper addendum to the supporting documents that listed the time I was abroad on a Schengen visa and said "This includes numerous visits to other countries covered in Schengen visa territory"

It must have worked because I got my visa approval today :)

I applied from the US too, to the Chicago office, and there were quite a few things that I was worried about... the travel dates, bank statements only being stamped, salary slips not being signed, cover letter from employer not listing salary, etc. But none of it seemed to matter and my application was approved in one day. I think I over stressed a little so I think as long as you're reasonable in your responses they're not going to give you a hard time.

Good luck!

Great, I will add this information in the Additional Information section. There is not possibly a way I can list or remember all my trips (most European countries don't stamp a US passport) but I will do the best I can. Luckily. UK does stamp non-EU passports therefore I can list all my visits to the UK.

You can do so. Or you can just write it where they have asked it to write (and say you are providing a separate sheet). In my case, I used additional information for typing a few words for my dependents. If you do not have any other thing to say, you can write in additional information. But the space provided in online application for additional information is also not so much.
