family visit visa refusal due to bank statement photocopies

Post by ginoT » Tue Oct 27, 2009 11:41 pm

apols if this topic has already been posted (which I suspect it has) but couldn't find it

trying to help out a friend (UK national) who's mother's family visit visa was refused on the grounds that the sponsor's bank statements included in the application were photocopies and not originals (ie saying because the docs were photocopies, they were likely falsified, and thus the cash highlighted probably didn't exist!). Sending original docs to far flung parts of the world is sometimes not that practical, especially if you want to submit an application quickly.

The bizarre thing here is that my friend mother has come to the UK in the past no less than 7 times on separate visas and returned back on each occasion, didn't request public funds etc. Applications done for those prior visas used photocopies so my mate is a bit miffed as to why the application has been rejected this time around.

I've been asked to help out with the appeal application. Any hints on what to say?

You take a risk and a chance by not sending original docs espicially bank statements in support of a loved ones application.

Its an essential requirement for an application.Copies and scanned docs can easily forged and therefore an an easy option for the ECO to refuse.

They are making it tough for any one to come into the country. Its not plain sailing anymore, despite the fact that a person may have been here for a few times before.

Send the AIT2 form back with a letter and ORIGINAL BANK STATEMENTS. If these are not available then certified copys done by the bank should suffice.

Hope this helps

madness - what bugs me most about this is how from simply submitting a photocopy they've somehow come to the ONLY conclusion that my pal (sponsor) is deliberately lying about their finances.

Good idea on doing the AIT but including originals as well.

thanks
