Does anyone here know the process in place to revoke one's Pakistan nationality after having acquired UK Citizenship.

Is there such a process? If Wikipedia is correct, the Government of Pakistan now recognizes and allows its citizens to also hold British citizenship.

There is an option to retain dual nationality, however you can't then avail the protection of UK Government if you visit the country of which you are still a citizen.

I'd like switch my Pakistan nationality to a Pakitan residency and obtain the Pakistan Origin Card (POC), an option which is available to all who are either entitled to Pakistan citizenship or former Pakistan citizens.

Yes, I'd like to know how to revoke Pakistani citizenship in favour of a Pakistan Origin Card in the UK. The process might be different in other countries.

You cant revoke your Pakistani nationality.

Just throw your pakistani passport away and travel on Britsih passport.

However you cant then obtain a POC ( pakistani oversea cards)as you need to be a citizen of pakistan to get the POC.

If you do away with your Pak nationality you are not entitled to anything Pakistani, as you will no longer be considered as one

If you have to travel to Pakistan, you have to pay and get a visa, jsut like a foreign person who wants to travel to that country ( mind you that is not very often in view of the security threats ...lol )

Spartac, there is a difference between the words revoke and renounce. With respect, your thread would be less confusing if you learned this.

You are asking about renunciation, not revocation.

As someone previously, correctly stated, there is no need to renounce your Pakistani Citizenship, as you can still avail yourself of British consular assistance with a dual nationality. In some cases, this is subject to the condition that you enter the country with a British Passport and do not get involve in political matters.

In some cases it does not really matter if you entered with a British Passport or not. Although some overseas nations refuse foreign consular assistance to dual nationality citizens who entered there territory with their national passport.

Unless of course you would like to dissociate yourself with anything to do with Pakistan, i suggest you keep it.

Hi,

Renunciation of Pakistani citizenship is very simple. According to the Singapore and most of the Asian countries immigration laws, we are required to renounce Pakistani citizenship after approval of foreign nationality.

As long as UK concerns, You may keep both nationalities or either renounce Pakistani Citizenship.

The process is very simple. You may visit nearest Pakistani embassy or foreign mission and fill up a form and provide the following documents.

1) 5 Pictures with blue background
2) original and one copy of passport
3) National ID card or NICOP

You may also required to pay a fee of around 30 Pounds.

In my opinion nothing wrong to keep both nationalities. If you don't really want to hold green passport you should renounce your nationality. Throw your passport away is not a solution and it does not exempt you to comply/obey Pakistani Law, rules and regulation while you are in Pakistan. In fact you are still Pakistani citizen and Pakistan does care more about foreigners
Once you successfully renounce Pakistani Citizenship then you may apply for Pakistan Origin Card (POC) online (http://www.nadra.gov.pk).

POC entitle you visa free entry to Pakistan and you may buy or sell any property in Pakistan. In fact it's more or less a substitute of Pakistani Nationality or at least Permanent Residence.

POC always issue with the same numbers as on your NIC that once been issued to you or the one you have already been surrendered to Pakistan embassy.
