Will i get PWS after switching visa from IGS Student.

Hello, i had IGS and i switched to student to get masters degree. Just want to know will i get PSW (the difference of two years) or i'll get nothing?

Please share if you got any information.

Only if your current or last leave to remain is IGS visa then you can switch to Tier 1 Post-study... I guess you can't..

So in this situation which possible options are available?

1. Cann't get PSW because already had IGS, so this not an option.
2. Cann't get Tier 1 General, because need fresh income after studies and this is not an option.
3. Cann't go for Tier 2 because not eligible to apply for full time work because currently hold Student Visa.

So which other options are available?

You can apply for Tier 1 general when you are on student visa, as for the earnings you can use your previous earnings before you switch to student visa

As for Tier 2, you need a sponsor or work permit for that.

Yep, they changed the rule and you are right. It was not like this before. Not sure how they consider students... Maybe Tier 2..

Claiming points for before study income doesn't count any more. They changed this law on 5th Oct, 09. So we cann't show previous income which was earned before studies.

"In line with the Immigration Rules change the guidance has been amended to remove the provision for migrants in full time education to claim points for earnings obtained outside of the 15 months immediately prior to their application".

Yes. I am on student visa now and working part time but money earned in part time isn't enough to clain points for earning. In my case, i need £32,000 to claim 35 points for previsous earning. As my age would be 32 years by the time i'll finish my master's degree.

Dear All, I am currently on PSW visa which valid until 16/08/2010 and working full time with 28000 per annum wage. I was in impression that I can switch my status into student by end of my current leave and carry on my studies to obtain master degree which required for Tier 1 General.

I just come to know that rules has been changed recently and if I switch back to student I will not be able to claim points for my income (During PSW).

First thing I want to know is that true, if so what other options I have left. Secondly I have my level 7 diploma from LIC previously, is it possible I can just top up my diploma and complete my masters.

Looking forward your kind suggestions in this regard

If you refer to the Tier 1 general guidance, they have some exceptions for someone works part time I guess.

mallik, You need to show the last 12 months to be able to gain points for income. It is a new rule.

Try for Tier 2 sponsored work permit, is the only option for you now as it doestn't require masters degree. If you switch to student it will not help you to get Tier 1 General.

Apply to universities and ask for exemption for your diploma. You can check with Open University, they may transfer your credits for this diploma towards masters. If they accept then you need to do only few courses to get their masters. And Open university masters is valid for Tier 1 General.
