I have finished post graduate MA degree recently. Now I want to go for some short full time courses for about 5-6 months. My current student visa expires 31.01.2010. So I will apply for student visa extension. I will probably be given student extension until aproximately 31.07.2010. When this new course will end it will be about 8 months after I got MA degree. This new short course will be probably not eligible for PSW. But it will be eligible for student visa.

The question:
Can I apply for PSW after I finish this short course based on my MA degree (which I finished just now) but not on this course (which will not be eligible for PSW). And if yes, then from what date will PSW start?
Will it start from the date of approval, so it will be additional 2 years to my student visa after short time course. Or will PSW be given for less than 2 years because it is based on MA course, so it will be calculated from my current student visa which end on 31.01.2010?

In other words will PSW visa be given for full 2 years from from 31.07.2010 (or little bit ealier if I apply earlier). Or will it be given for 2 years minus 7 months of new student visa for this short course?

Can someone please confirm it please, just to put my mind to rest.

(I mean the answer was great and detailed but, just in case, wanted to see someone else to confirm it before sending docs to HO for student visa extension.)
