Absolutely not possible! You don't even apply for a Work Permit!

The way it works is if an employer in the UK wishes to employ you then they can apply for a Work Permit for you. However that Work Permit will not be issued unless it is impossible to fill their vacancy from within the UK or the rest of the EEA.

So what skills do you possess that are in short-supply in the UK?

Would be nice and easy if my Uncle Howard would give my Russian gf a Work Permit instead of us doing everything legally like we are doing.

I've no doubt this sort of back door immigration goes on but why get involved with it?

In short your 'uncle' can apply for a work permit for you but only after satisfying the UK authorities that no other UK or EU person was able to fill the 'role'.

Some dreams just don't happen - I wanted to go to USA to work, I have degree and skills but it never happened so I'm still here.

Others will know more here but I seem to remeber the employer needing to provide proof of advertisement of the job over a set period. Plus you will still need the specialist skills that no one locally can provide.....

I think that, among other things they will want a precise description of the job, and they will want to know in detail why it can only be filled by you, rather than by a UK resident or an EU/EEA national...
