Naturalization 4 child born in india & parents hav ILR

Dear Boardmembers,

Me and my Wife are originally from INDIA. we have been granted ILR in Jan2009. My wife went back to India, in order to stay with her family at the time of the delivery. My Son was born in INDIA in May2009. My wife and my son are still in India.

We are planning to do the following -
A) apply for a INDIAN passport and upon getting this
B) apply for a settlement visa for him at the nearest british embassy in India.

Please note that as i will be eligible for British Citizenship in Feb 2010.

My query is

1) When can my son get a British citizenship ?
2) is it advisable to wait for Feb 2010 and apply for a British passport directly.(instead of dealing with the Indian bureaucracy) ?

Please can the senior board members advice me or point me to right direction ?
