hi Guys,
Wish any of you could assist me here.
Im about to apply for the Tier 1. Im a US resident from India and have 5 years work ex and my wife has 2 years work ex both US work experiences.
Whats the time frame we are looking at from applying to getting the clearance? I heard its 2 stage. Apply for Tier1 and then the visa...Is it right?
So whats the time frame?
Thanks All

It's only single stage process. You apply to BHC near to you and get back passport with stamp on it.
Timeframe depends on the work load of the caseworker. Many people from US received it in one flat whereas if you apply from VFS-India it is taking over 3 weeks.

HI chetanojha,
Thanks for the reply.
Once I get the entry clearance I know I have 3 years visa. That means assume I get it starting march 2010 then what are the drawbacks if i actually enter only in say June 2010 for eg.
Do i have to work only in a 'highly skilled' area of work or can I work anywhere I want?
What about my wife. Ill be applying for her as well as dependent. Can she work anywhere she wants eg: as a bank teller although she has a masters in engg
at the end of 3 years or 5 years does her work in the UK and her salary earned help in obtaining the ILR or is it just mine that matters.
Thanks again in advance.

Earnings for ILR is not very strict at the moment. You just need to show economical activities for ILR. But that may change in future.
Thanks again in advance.

Hi chetanojha
Thanks for your time,
Just final 2 questions for the time being..
1. What are the residency requirements for the 3 years. Of the 365 X 3 years, whats the minimum no of days that I need to be in the UK so as to not cause any future issues such as when applying for FLTR or ILR
2. I applied and got approved for a visitor visa for the Uk beginning Nov 25th for 6 months. Will that cause a conflict if I apply for the Tier 1 on lets say Dec 15th?
Thanks again for ure support.
